Summary:

One of the most well known school shooters in American history was Charles Whitman.  With a tested IQ of 138, Whitman was an eagle scout at age 12 and later became a sharpshooter in the Marines in 1959.  In 1964 he was honorably discharged and in 1966 he met with a doctor after he was concerned about his mental health.

He said, “I am prepared to die.  After my death, I wish an autopsy on me to be preformed to see if there is any mental disorder.”

On July 31, 1966 he stabbed his mother to death.  He then killed his wife.  He left a note “I imagine it appears that I brutally killed both of my loved ones.  I was only trying to do a quick thorough job…”

The following day Whitman went to the Bell Tower at the University of Texas where he killed 16 people and wounded 30.  He was stopped when police officers stormed the tower and shot him.
