Philadelphia

The city of Philadelphia nicknamed “The city of brotherly love” is the largest city of the state of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia is known world wide for being the birthplace of the United States, where many colonial events took place. Many of its urban residents simply call the city “Philly.”

Being the headquarters of Philadelphia County, Philadelphia has an estimated population of 1,448,394 people with an unsure large amount of them are gang members. Its home of many mafia crime families that are still in tact.  Although, many of the newly formed gangs are now appearing to be more active.

Gangs in Philadelphia are known to be extremely dangerous in many of its urban neighborhoods. Although large percentage of the city’s gang related crimes are committed by kids and teenagers. This involves shootings, murders, robbery, and drug sales.

Gangs

P.L.O In the 1980s, many Palestinians were tired of Israeli occupation. They soon began a movement which many Arabs started a revolt against Israelis, most of them were farmers. This group was soon known to be called the Palestinian Liberation Organization.

Arabs lost most of their battles, but they refused to give up and continued their revolt. Many citizens began to move out of their area where the fighting took place. Citizens then immigrated to the United States; many of them were members of the organization.

Members soon recreated the organization here in America. Only this time the organization collected money to feed the poor and helped out Arabs in need.

Many of its immigrants settled in Philadelphia in a large group. Many of the Arabs experienced racism and discrimination from white citizens and began to fight. The result was a newly formed street gang and became known as the P.L.O which is an abbreviation of the original organization name.

The P.L.O is an all Arab gang. Members wear the colors black, white, green and red which derive from the Palestinian flag. As their symbol, members usually like to use the peace sign with the Palestinian flag around it.

The P.L.O is 100% Muslim. So its members do not have any tattoos because of their Islamic religion although a very small percentage have their symbol tattooed.  

P.L.O does not have many enemies. Many have reported they’ve been fighting with some Jewish gangs and the I Squad but nothing really serious. P.L.O are said to be well associated friends with the N.L.R (No Limit Rosehill) & D.M.B (Drugs Money Bitches). This is mainly due to the fact that a certain percent of Arabs are in the two gangs.

Reported recently, P.L.O is having altercations with The Hicks. Which some believe has been going on for three years. Nothing serious or hazardous has been reported.

Members of P.L.O don’t carry weapons nor do they go terrorizing neighborhoods. They only use their weapons when problems come in their territory. Recently a new branch of P.L.O was created called A.R.B (Arabs Ridin Bad).

The P.L.O is well respected gang in Philadelphia. Most of its members travel back and forth to Palestine to visit their families and stay in touch. They influence many Arab gangs in the Middle East.
