The Southern Locos Gang 13 is active in Atascadero. They are a clique of Surenos, the street soldiers of the Mexican Mafia. This gangs colors are blue and the commonly wear dickies cloths and Locs sunglasses. These gang members frequently engage in tagging their turf and have committed assault on numerous rival gang members. They got to great extent to stay clear of police so they are not often convicted of any crimes. This gang is growing and becoming increasingly violent towards anyone who stands in their way. Recently SLG members have been found to be living in Templeton and Santa Margarita as well as Atascadero.

It should also be noted that the Southern Locos Gang is very diverse and fluid in the way they operate. Currently it has members of both white and hispanic races. The gang is getting larger and is recruiting from local schools. It is also said that SLG has made an alliance with the local crips in order to better enable them to operate in the area. SLG members have been suspected of selling cocaine, methamphetamines, and marijuana.
