Dover, Florida - Deputies say, gang members are accused of committing four drive by shootings and selling drugs. They say it’s been a big problem in Dover and Plant City, especially in the migrant communities.

Sheriff David Gee says, Eastern Hillsborough County experienced a series of drive by shootings from July to October of last year. One resulted in a homicide. Deputies created a gang taskforce to investigate those incidents. That taskforce arrested 42 gang members from four different gangs. They face various charges from possession of drugs to attempted murder.

Sheriff David Gee/Hillsborough County:
“This is just the tip of the iceberg if we don’t break this cycle, we’re going to be like some of the other big cities in the United States.”

Gee says he needs parents help in preventing gang activity.

Sheriff David Gee/Hillsborough County:
“I would ask the families of people you may suspect, that you have either child, brother or sister involved in gang activity, to try to talk to them because there’s more to come and this is a sure way of spending a life in prison or worse.”
