Default 50-50 Love?!?! WTF

I am a LEO in MD in the Laurel area. I've got a group of kids claiming West Cide Mafia Crips and another group claiming Black P-Stone Bloods. The Crips far outnumber the Bloods since they recently merged with another gang. They all live in the same neighborhood in VERY close proximity however there is no beef between the two gangs. They even tag up walls with rival tags right next to each other. No crossing out of the other's set. I recently had a chance to field interview a ranking member of the Crip set and he told me there was no beef because they had 50-50 love. Has anyone ever heard of this? This is the first I'm seeing where rival gangs are sharing the same turf. I even have info from a good source that two of the P-stones participated in a street robbery/beatdown with the crips of a citizen. Is 50-50 l;ove something found elsewhere, are did these idiots make this up.

My hunch, and I could be wrong: These kids are afraid to beef becuase they all go to school together, and live very close and a war could get costly for both sides. But being natrual enemies they have to do something so that they don't look soft to the few Vatos we have in the area. So they make up this 50-50 love to avoid having to fight. I can see why the bloods are eager to avoid a fight. They are outnumbered like 30 to 10. But what's up with the Crips not fighting? My fear is we are headed for another merger and we will see a more organized group of 40-50, instead of the disorganized 30-10 we have now from both sides. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

By the way, don't get me wrong, I appreciate a cease fire as much as the next guy...but I'm also aware that a peace treaty between two gangs does not always equal a positive thing for the citizens and police. Sometimes they stop fighting each other to wage war on civilians.

Such alliances are not uncommon, especially in California.

Due to movies like "Colors" and so on. People assume Bloods and Crips are ALL mortal enemies. However, within Southern California (L.A.), there are Crip sets who's most rivaled enemy are other Crip sets. For example, Hoover Criminal Gangsters are enemies with all Neighbor Hood Crips, such as Rollin 40's, 60's, 90's, 100's and so on. Matter of fact, due to the amount of Crip enemies; in 1997 the Hoovers changed their set from Hoover Crip Gang, or Hoover Crips to Hoover Criminals or Hoover Criminal Gangsters. The only Hoover set who still loosely identifies themselves as Crips are 52nd St. Hoovers (5 Deuce Hoover Crips). The 83 Gangster Crips (8 Trey Gangster Crips) also have more Crip enemies then Blood enemies.

There are several Crip sets, who's territories are in close proximity with Blood and/or Piru sets. These sets also live in peace. Also there is a war in Southern California, between many black and Hispanic (Sureno) gangs. Which has caused many gang sets to work together.

I hope this clears some things up or maybe confused things a little bit more. Just remember, not all Crips and Bloods are the same. If they were they would not have different identifying sets.

Default Clicking up

We have similar hybrids here as well. Recent ones are the Nortenos and Bloods. They have created an alliance here at our Juvenile facility due to them being outnumbered by the Surenos. They call their hybrid gang "vortex" After speaking with a few it seems this is convienent because they are both red flaggers. Along with that the Surenos and Crips are both Blue flaggers and they also have formed an alliance. It seems as if the Crips and Surenos are not as worried so their alliance is only to prove that they too can be stronger in numbers
